All disability conditions are not visibly identifiable. The absence of a standardized Disability Screening Checklist for Schools covering the 21 disabilities outlined in the RPWD Act 2016 prompted NCERT to develop the Disability Screening Checklist for Schools and the PRASHAST mobile app. PRASHAST, short for "Pre Assessment Holistic Screening Tool," facilitates school-based screening for the 21 disability conditions recognized in the RPwD Act 2016. It assists in generating school-level reports, which can be shared with authorities to kickstart the certification process in alignment with the guidelines of Samagra Shiksha. Samagra Shiksha is a flagship integrated program for school and teacher education falling under the purview of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, Government of India.
